At the time of its release, Tesla chief executive Elon Musk said autopilot was still in test mode.
"The software is very new," he said.
"We're being especially cautious at this early stage, so we're advising drivers to keep their hands on the wheel just in case."
The notes accompanying the software update also stated it was suitable only for motorway driving.

so Tesla send out an update over the air to the car (was there a choice for the driver?) giving the car an ability to self-steer / self-drive...
and they say that it is still in test mode!
does the car manufacturer have any liability / concerns over doing this? is government just allowing car manufacturers to do as they wish because they are big companies? does seem very strange
