So Tesla can push major functionality updates out OTA, and yet describe the autopilot as "Beta"
“We tell drivers to keep their hands on the wheel just in case, to exercise caution in the beginning,” Elon Musk said today at an press event. “Over time, long term, you won’t have to keep your hands on the wheel—we explicitly describe this as beta.”
And when some hacker uses the same mechanism to push something out...?
What could possibly go wrong....

And having seen exactly that happen recently in a test with a jeep where hackers took control remotely and drove it off the road into a ditch - it is extremely likely...
but not to worry - your car shouldn't have that issue

Re: What could possibly go wrong....
I have visions that one day every car fitted with autonomous drive in a given model, say a 3 series, will inexplicably accelerate and turn left at the same time causing havoc everywhere. Probably due to some 14 year old hacker sat in his bedroom with nothing better to do. Or a terrorist organisation with something to prove.

V2V and V2I very much on the way and will encourage all this self drive stuff...
Re: What could possibly go wrong....
Will the autonomous driver of a BMW use its indicators, or will it replicate typical BMW drivers?
Your 'standard' is how you drive alone, not how you drive during a test.
