Same score... Same 'against my better judgement'.... 8-)

but isn't that the same with all government / authority stuff - you have to partially learn to play the game and give them the answer they are looking for - which is not always the same as the correct answer!

Yup... Certainly with a lot of it. And that fits applying for grants. That's why there are specialists out there to do it... They 'speak the right language"

I don't think that's actually going to happen! The DVSA team that prepares the Highway Code probably doesn't frequent this forum.

Disappointing, I know. But, here's another puerile classic from the latest, 2015, Highway Code:

Page 45, para 134, Multi-Lane Carriageways..."In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily". Let's examine this piece of advice and see how it serves to improve driver behaviour and make our roads safer.

Let's first pose the question... who will be deciding whether it's necessary or unnecessary to change lanes? Of course, It's the driver of the vehicle which is changing lanes who will be making the decision as to whether the lane change is necessary or not. So, unless the driver is mentally deranged, and, yes, I know some of them are, then if the driver changes lane he's always going to deem that it was necessary because if he thought it was "unnecessary" he wouldn't have done it! Which means that, if asked, every driver who changes lane will answer that it was necessary. The conclusion that can be drawn is that there are no drivers who change lanes "unnecessarily", so why include this piece of advice! So, without the Highway Code citing specific examples of when it's "unnecessary", which it cannot do, the exhortation in para 134 is pointless.

It's no wonder the Great British public doesn't bother to read the Highway Code.

but will it not result in some drivers changing lane less often...?
i.e. it can change the boundary at which the driver decides that it is necessary / un-necessary...
(assuming that they have read the highway code to start with!)

I doubt it would change behaviour because it doesn't cite any actual boundaries at which the driver is to decide whether or not the lane change is necessary.

Human nature is such that every driver believes he's a rational individual and, to use this particular example, wouldn't change lanes if he believed it wasn't necessary.

To cite one individual, by way of example... I've no idea what would be classed as changing lanes unnecessarily :o. In hindsight it might turn out that my lane change proved to be unnecessary, or even disadvantageous, but at the time that I made the decision I wouldn't have though it was unnecessary, otherwise I wouldn't have done it.

If I did not know what your profession was I would have felt sure you worked in the civil service. You have the natural gift of gobbledegook necessary in that job.

Impressive on a 10 question quiz :D or did you do the super-elusive, ultra secret version?!
