Probably been some research into this.

I thought the Italians found out that realistically sensibly high speed limits caused drivers to maintain alertness.
Different strokes.

PS - what could they possibly be erecting that greenery for in the linked article?

IIRC the hedge across the bridge is to facilitate with wildlife crossing a new road.

Interesting.

What do people think of this:

It is electronic, animated and very bright at night.

Tree roots help soil to drain, so could help reduce rain run-off and so flash floods.

Edited. See above post :(

I always understood that to keep drivers alert and to stop tedium and repetitiveness,.
ALL the over bridges on the M50 were designed to be all different. [brick steel concrete arched straight ets etc]

SO had to be done and it did seem they were. [But I may have nodded off]

The next trick was to take all my Police drivers on there,. I used to put a £20 note on the dashboard and tell them that the first person to tell me what was unique about the motorway could keep it.

Well being a total tight A**S I knew I was on to a winner and never lost.
