National Roads Policing have launched a survey to capture everyone’s views and opinions regarding the legislation changes around using a mobile phone whilst driving. They want to gauge awareness of the law change and the data collected will help plan future campaigns. They would really appreciate you filling in the survey and sharing it on social media.

The government is changing the Fixed Penalty Notice and penalty points for the use of a hand-held mobile phone whilst driving. The new legislation will come into effect on the 1st of March 2017. Under the new government rules drivers will receive six points on their licence and face a £200 fine.

The survey is anonymous, all answers will be held in confidence and it should take approximately 2 minutes. The survey can be accessed here:

Survey closed yesterday* - but I can't pull the thread as it's been replied to.

* I've notified the person who's asking for it to be promulgated . . .

All mobile phones are distracting whether they are hands free or held, they divide driver attention making them slow to respond. Combine them with drivers who cannot control their speed and they are lethal. I feel that all mobile signals should be blocked by the car system while engine is running, but it's all about money for the manufacturers isn't it.

Have you read our very long thread on this topic? You will find that while many people here would strongly agree with you, there are other forum members who do not agree (nobody argues that there is no degree of distraction, the arguments have been about the level of distraction compared to other distractions which are not banned).
