An excellent exposition of a confusing concept.
He is the first person to introduce an element of sanity and common sense into a topic that is completely misunderstood by many drivers.

Exactly. But try explaining that to whoever writes the Highway Code!
I once used the phrase “it just depends” during a discussion with a retired advanced-wing instructor from Hendon police driving school. He looked at me as though I had just landed from another planet (which I had metaphorically speaking ). We were discussing use of the manual side of an autobox. He told me in no uncertain terms there were no ifs or buts, and I must always refer to Roadcraft… Unfortunately, Roadcraft had nothing to say about the topic, that’s why we were discussing the issue. I sometimes think how nice it would be if I too was able to think in terms of black and white. Life would be so much simpler.

No, no they won't. I'd put good money on a "normal" road user not having looked at the HC since they passed their test.

I'm trying to be more charitable in my old age. [italics]If[/italics] a road user bothered to update their knowledge over time, the HC would be the "go to" source, not some ADI on the YouTube.

He says in the video he thinks it was meant to only apply to T junctions. YES that's why the schedule changes clearly talk about turning into a side road.
Also the rule us only in the junction section of the HWC and NOT the RABs section. The actual changes in the HWC as words has been poorly done.
I'd guess that Note is only from his local test centre and isn't anything official as he's cut and pasted it from an email rather than give a source.
