People Power - but who(m)?

Postby Horse » Wed Nov 08, 2023 12:39 pm

When you think about the IAM, does the phrase 'volunteers' spring to mind?

So:
Our People Power campaign shines a light on the IAM RoadSmart Board of Trustees, each of whom is a volunteer, and the campaign showcases the vital work they do with and for the IAM RoadSmart community.

I wonder whether the campaign will shine light on Observers too?

I dislike wording like "trustee" and "volunteer". Whilst they may give their time for free, 2 of them are/were in paid positions.

And why does the article only feature 5 trustees? According to the Charity Commission there are 10 (though the other 5 were only appointed in September)

At the IAM RoadSmart Regional Forum recently (The South West one was at Haynes Museum) they said one of their focuses (foci?) will be on the volunteers... Observers, Group Committee members etc. So we'll see.

For the life of me I cannot understand why they are posting this nonsense on LinkedIn. Someone, presumably a paid employee, has to compose and post this utterly pointless missive. It’s a complete waste of the members hard earned subscriptions. But more than that it simply highlights their complete lack of focus on the original purpose of the IAM which was to improve driving standards.

Apparently ...

Throughout December, we’re celebrating our community and all those who make a difference to our organisation.

Keep posted as we share feel-good community stories and the opportunity to win some incredible prizes, including a special giveaway exclusively for our IAM RoadSmart members.
