Re: Driving to the conditions?
So what speed would you drive/ride through a crossing on an empty 30mph street?

Re: Driving to the conditions?
Wow, so what would have been a "safe and reasonable speed"? I assume this is insurance companies arguing liability as the police haven't prosecuted for anything. 28 wasn't (though not sure how that was proved) 26? 25? 20? 15? Obviously you'd ease seeing a pedestrian/child approaching a cro...

Re: Highway Code Review for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders
He's slowly coming round to the sensible view on this. Even mentioning the different sections of the HWC. Way back he wrote a scathing article about me when I made this very point. Still clinging to his contact with a media person saying the junction rule applies to RABs.

Re: Driving with DSG
I knew that the route we were travelling yesterday had some 'interesting' features, so tried to explain that setting the car up earlier would be smoother. First, 60 limit. Road narrows downhill to single lane on a bend, over a bridge, into a tight 120° left bend - up a steep hill. Gearchange half w...

Re: Driving with DSG
It's Filly's car. I was trying to explain this earlier today. :headbang: I admitted defeat after one lesson with my daughter when she was learning to drive. Teaching family members is hard. I handed over in-between lessons practise to my father in law. She is much more accepting of my advice these ...

Re: Motorcycle videos
On dual lane slips I too favour the right hand lane, though unlike the single lane one in the video these tend to be elevated or rising and approach at an angle. This gives a different perspective to these single parallel lanes.

Re: A Local Incident
What does everyone think of Graduated Driver Licencing? I guess it wouldn't do the same for cars though. So what graduation, other than performance would you go for https://www.nzta.govt.nz/driver-licences/getting-a-licence/driver-licensing-resources/ One example, New Zealand. Restrictions on carry...

Re: A Local Incident
What does everyone think of Graduated Driver Licencing? I always thought it was a good idea for motorcycles until the government got involved with the process. It's now so complex it puts youngsters off 2 wheels and they just go for a car. I guess it wouldn't do the same for cars though. But lets t...

Re: Highway Code Review for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders
Is he correct? Is it definitely the case that the 'you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross' applies at the entrance and exit of roundabouts? I don't believe he is. If you read the early drafts of the HWC changes there was a clear distinction between junctions (turning into/o...
