Re: Overtaking at pedestrian crossings

There seems to be a semantic subtlety (at least in Horse's quote from HC) that if the stopped car isn't giving way to pedestrians, it's ok to overtake. Are we also getting confused between traffic light controlled crossings and zebra crossings?

Re: Aviva App?

If you think it is in anyway anonymous you need to look at the permissions the App requires and understand how cookies, data mining and tracking works (ever done any surveys on Facebook? ;) ). I wouldn't let it near my phone. The last bit confirms it is a glorified G force assessor. :( That's why I...

I've been tempted, but not figured out a way to anonymise my data/location/phone to my satisfaction. Even wondered about doing it for a Rospa resit, then sending them the examiners report. Maybe I should take it on a track day? :racing:

Re: Aviva App?

My personal opinion is resist black boxes at all costs. Soon we will all be REQUIRED to have them if the insurance companies get enough people to install them voluntarily. :( Only if they work out the cost of installing is offset by reduced payouts. I'm still of the opinion they should be required ...

Re: Admiral - Speed Awareness Course....

Admiral could *say* that their data shows whatever they like. If it's easy for them to say that it shows a higher likelihood of an accident in the next 12 months then, hey, kerchinng! It's also believable if your observation is missing cameras and camera vans, you're probably missing other things t...

Re: BRAKE - good news and bad news?

lots of drivers, of all ages are incapable of negotiating a right-hand bend without crossing the centre line. Basically lazy steering/driving. No, I don't think it's that at all. It's that they've entered the bend too quickly and are afraid to go any closer to the left side of the road. If they ent...

Re: BRAKE - good news and bad news?

if the limit's 60 (ha!) and the upcoming bend needs 30, ISA will let you happily carry on at 60? Don't be silly, there'll be a speed limit change every 5 yards to cater for this flaw in our roads. The problem is the damage has been done - the number of people I go out with on NSL/50 rural roads and...
