Lighting...
So can anyone explain why if doing 80mph on a clear dry sunny road is so dangerous that it's worthy of enforcement/reeducation, there's absolutely no effort to prosecute all the morons driving around in fog with no lights or just DRLs on? Tell me that's not more dangerous   :soap: :soap:...

Re: The Silence
I was thinking of something in parallel rather than a replacement. Maybe Facebook could act as a conduit to find us more members. You can link a website from the description of a group, or the Intro section of a page. Parallel discussion seems a very good way of reducing critical mass even further....

https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/hyundai/ioniq-5-n-electric-hatchback-2023/478kw-84-kwh-5dr-auto/first-drive What makes it unique, then? Hyundai has thrown the kitchen sink at the electronics to make it not just rapid, but engaging to drive in new and interesting ways we hadn’t previously though...

Re: Manual EV's?!
Not sure what it will mean when it's done entirely in software and there's no engine noise to tell you what's going on anyway. Seems more of a gimmic looking for a problem to solve.

Re: 20mph alternatives
Ah, the inevitable straw man of being hit by a car is dragged out. Wouldn't it be better if you weren't hit at all? :hit: Trouble is that drivers and riders aren't always great at keeping their side of the bargain. I'm not sure we've tried much (other than reducing speed limits  ) to stop them.

End of 20mph growth?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-66965714 Personally I doubt anything will change with respect to the (in)sanity of these schemes. "Review guidance on 20mph speed limits in England, to prevent their use in "areas where it's not appropriate"" Having dealt with councils previ...

Re: 20mph alternatives
I have the data from a 2018 speed survey that showed 85th percentile speeds in the mid to high 30s most of the day, over 40s early morning and late evening. Not sure whether the (then) parish council missed an opportunity to use that data to ask police to consider prioritising us for enforcement vi...

Re: 20mph alternatives
And if they don't notice the warning sign & people in hi-viz, they deserve it. I've said to the team to do it without warning signs & hi-viz to see what proportion of traffic exceeds the 30 but they aren't "allowed" to do that, even as an exercise And no ignoring your friend/neigh...

they might do it in the public version but you can bet it's filed in one of their databases somewhere.
