Re: Young Drivers (again)
Part of my day job often involves identifying and hiring facilities. There is an ever-decreasing number available. FWIW Bruntingthorpe, no longer available, 100% car storage Longcross, ditto, Netflix studios TRL Crowthorne, housing estate Duxford, available but on borrowed time, housing Upper Heyfo...

Re: Forum Names
See my signature :) On another forum I'm on, the admin has been known to change login names for folk who have used a similar scheme then update their vehicle  Mine is Jon T... but on one forum "jont" was taken, so I stuck a ''-' on the end. Seemed easier to keep using it elsewhere too.

• Smoother driving, with fewer accelerations and decelerations, generates fewer particulate emissions from tyre and brake wear. 75% of road transport particulate emissions come from tyre and brake wear, not exhausts Time to scrap all the speedhumps then :hit: What does the evidence say about traffi...

Speeding protection racket now fully legalised
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-63322848 Really, just fine folk, no points? Can't be any sort of danger from speeding at all then  If that's not the definition of a protection racket I don't know what is. I'm sure councils will be rolling this out nationwide as soon as they can. U...

Re: Drivers woefully overestimate hands-free driver tech, study shows
I've long thought anyone who thinks these sub-autonomous systems are a good idea almost defacto proves they don't understand driving enough to be allowed to keep a license.

Re: 61% of drivers haven't read the new highway code
So how could that effective promotion be achieved? There's been quite a lot of adverts, posters in service stations etc about "go left" for when you break down on the motorway (god knows only why they missed the opportunity to also say "keep left when you're not actually overtaking&q...

61% of drivers haven't read the new highway code
according to the AA: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62789079 so 35% of drivers are liars? I'd be amazed if it's anywhere near 4% never mind 40% that have read it. Some might be aware of these changes via news articles but I'm at the point where I wonder why we even bother with legislation and driving...

How can they tell it's making motorists slow down? Because if there's another plod unit observing, it might be that one the motorists are reacting to,

Don't know about anyone else, but how I drive (speed etc) can vary considerably. When I'd just collected Filly from hospital after a major operation and she was close to screaming with the pain, I drove as slowly as I needed to. Well I hope you didn't hold anyone up who might have been rushing to h...
