So his driving totally unaware of what was in front of him, concentrating instead on his 'phone conversation was a standard of driving below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver ... I'm wondering if 'careless' because using a hands-free isn't illegal but he wasn't taking enough ...

The news item I watched said the second lorry driver pleaded guilty to eight counts of careless driving, (the linked article says all eight counts were causing death by careless). If it had been during daytime perhaps the minibus driver would have spotted the obstruction earlier and been able to ove...

As per the correction in the referenced link ... which seems much more likely to me since there are clear edges in each of the colours. Although I wonder if the correction is slightly wrong in the detail since it appears to be 4 images rather than 3.

Appears to be a noun / verb issue, but English variants don't appear to be consistent, especially wrt the -ing form.
