Re: HIGH STANDARD/FURTHER TRAINING IN THE UK
People have been riding round bends for a long time, and most will never have heard of counter-steering. How did they manage? :biker: :bike: When something unexpected happens often they don't and become yet another statistic Are you trying to say that knowing about counter-steering is cure to avoid...

Re: Dead steering: no feedback
Because the weight of a car has next to no effect on fuel consumption on the flat. You've only got rolling resistance (Which is about 0.01 times the vehicle weight) and aerodynamic resistance (A function of forward speed squared) to deal with above and beyond the various frictional bits to do with ...

Re: Dead steering: no feedback
Plus you still have a hydraulic fluid with the complexities that it brings with it. while most manufacturers don't require it, did you ever on your accord replace the fluid inside a hydraulic power steering? The difference between old and new is mind-boggling. But they are both poor facsimilies of ...

But even so... a diesel Audi? Don't worry, you can't afford one. Can't I? I'll have to check my bank account then, see who took my money out  It's gone to NIgeria. Look on the bright side - you get to help the poor as well as saving yourself from having to own a diesel Audi. Thank...

Re: Dead steering: no feedback
With enough time and money, just about anything is possible. No doubt SD will be along to explain the intricate details. But they are both poor facsimilies of unassisted steering. Why we worry about the fuel savings due to EPS, when modern cars weigh so much just boggles the mind... but that's anoth...

Re: HIGH STANDARD/FURTHER TRAINING IN THE UK
Anybody who has ever ridden a bicycle will automatically use "counter steering". It is something that you pick up on within a few minutes of learning to balance. It does not need teaching, as it happens naturally, in the same way that people subconsciously move their bodies to keep uprigh...

Re: Dead steering: no feedback
Having driven vehicles with EPS, HPS and no PS, all I can say is that despite what some may say, in my experience, modern EPS is a pale imitation of the other methods, no matter how sensitive the driver. I can feel the vibrations in modern cars, but it's like wearing a thick layer of cushioning on y...

Re: Diesel now bad?
I have to say I feel a bit cheated about this issue. We changed to diesel cars quite a number of years ago because the received wisdom was that they were better for the environment. It cost us more of course, and the figures said that we wouldn't be doing the mileage necessary to recoup our costs, ...
