Re: Proposed changes to the Highway Code?

A lot of cyclists and pedestrians assume other road users are responsible for their safety as it is. Had to slow and move towards the centreline in a 30 limit the other day because a pedestrian on the nearside pavement, wearing headphones, was overtaking another bunch occupying most of the pavement....

As a technical aside the only requirement for aircraft fuel gauges is to show zero when empty...

Re: 3 Stage or 2 Stage Overtake?

As in all things Advanced Driving there are a few ways to the same end. I know it's teaching you all to suck eggs but the most important bit is to make sure you don't hit the oncoming traffic when offside, as the paperwork is horrendous, nor hit anything else on the way to or back from offside. Re: Importance of surprise horizon

I think on a bike you'd have been safer, as you had room nearside to move into, and the speed seemed reasonable to the circumstances. I had a similar situation on a right hander in Scotland while learning left foot braking in an auto. Funny how quickly the car stops with both feet on the brake pedal!

I had to use a towel over the seat to be able to drive comfortably!

Re: A Rare Opportunity

If I go abroad I mentally draw a little magenta line in my head as yo where the car needs to go. Especially at junctions, traffic lights and the rest.

When I come back I do the same for a while until it's automatic.

Re: LastPass alternative?

I use Keepass. KeepassX on the Mac, KyPass on the iPhone and iPad. The KDB (password database file) is stored in my Dropbox account but you could use any other cloud file storage. This way I keep a consistent copy of the file irrespective of which device I use. Keepass - https://keepass.info/ KyPass...

Re: Stopping an auto smoothly

The foot is a much better pressure than position sensor, so thinnish footwear, or at least footwear which accurately transmits the pressure on the pedal, are fine.
