Re: Two Chevron rule

No, it's nothing more than a simple message to Mr & Mrs Joe public urging them... "not to drive too close to the car in front when you're driving on the motorway at 70mph!" And, yes, they paint some chevrons on the road but that's just to give the drivers some sense of spatial awarene...

Re: texting and driving

"Driving while using a phone is one of the ‘fatal four’ driving offences, along with speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and drink or drug driving, for a very good reason: it can devastate lives." Said the investigating officer. I believe those factors are responsible for only a small proport...

Re: Two Chevron rule6

To slow down? Why on earth? I thought for the vast majority speed choice on motorways was almost always about attitudes to the legal limit. These days it seems to be about fuel consumption. (I don't think my choice of speed has changed much in 15 years, but it feels like I've gone from one of the s...

alongside the Mensa certificates of my wife and children . . . With a space between for your 'Failed with distinction' certificate? :? ;) Mind you, there might be scope their for streamlining the test system: how about RoSPA / IAM HQ send you a time and date, and a test route. You go out on y...

Re: Two Chevron rule6

The 2 chevrons sign is confusing but probably better than nothing. I wonder if there is any evidence to show it reduces collisions? Yes it would be interesting to know. It was really illuminating to see how many colleagues interpreted in different ways, although that said pretty much all of them al...

Re: Dragging them kicking and screaming into the 21st century .....

I wonder if those leaving Uni with their degrees would accept a USB stick/.pdf in lieu at the degree award ceremonies? I was quite happy to skip my award ceremony. What a load of pretentious drivel  Surely it should just be uploaded to soshul meedja with a cat picture these days? These things ...

Re: Just curious

From the long (41 page) and rather good IAM Observer Qualification and Assessment document it is clear that IAM also have dropped any argument that instruction is not given. This is a brief extract from an extensive set of requirements for what an Observer has to be able to do: 1. Assist the Associa...

Re: Just curious

If you read a little further (Appendix 5), you will find: Approved Tutors ...... My group only uses Gold grades and only one tutor is an ADI, and no money passes hands for tuition - free training is available for group members. 8-) Impressive stuff. So it is quite clear that Rospa ADAR make no pret...

Re: Just curious

...Does anyone know how this age information is used elsewhere? And how should it be used? My current Associate is younger than my children, does that make me an unsuitable Observer? In Bristol we offer a full refund to drivers under 25. Admirable - but nothing to do with allocation of a suitable c...
