Re: 15000 miles later

Most upshifting I'll blip the throttle in my derv - its more a rev matching thing than a dodgy gearbox thing though, but it does seem to make it a little smoother.

Yes, and gaining perhaps 5 to 10 minutes on my journey for 30 seconds effort was not the primary thought? Oooh, there's a flying pig! :hit:

perfectly legal, but still felt guilty.

I did a mega journey at the weekend to get car parts. There was trouble on the M42 due to someone clobbering the central reservation earlier in the day so they'd shut off both outside lanes. Sensibly as a managed motorway they had the "hard shoulder" lane open and I was using it as knew ev...

Re: One for the ADIs - roundabout indicating

I just hope its isolated (hopefully) to a very small number. Good to hear the official line though. I think I will ask at my RoSPA committee meeting tomorrow as well as pretty sure there's at least 4 current ADIs.

One for the ADIs - roundabout indicating

In one of the not best facebook groups I frequent a few young'uns were claiming their instructors were telling them to indicate right when approaching/entering a roundabout with the intention of going straight on, then indicating left off it. I really hope this isn't the case as this technique reall...

Re: The Netherlands

I drove through a bit of Holland yesterday - My memory is pretty good lane discipline and a 120kph speed limit that I was moderately bending to make a certain ferry out of Dunkirk. I cannot say the lane discipline and general driving was much good when I hit Belgium though! Boy, most of them seem to...

" money changes hands" Never happens in our group. :) All voluntary. And membership subscriptions to the group is not driving instruction. :) IAM or Rospa? Both will claim that all payments made are for matters other than the giving of instruction. I think this claim is a little more chal...

Re: Smee's test - specifics

I'm one of those people who is a fairly habitual right indicator on early on slip roads type - at least when it's looking relatively busy. At night and early mornings I won't unless I've already checked and nothing is on the carriageway at all (A rarity on the M5 in Devon in the summer...) But in es...

Re: Next step

Are you a member of a local group? It was purely experience from group members (diploma, gold, HPC) sitting alongside me that got me to my test, and then a few one on one lessons with a local gold holder.
