Re: Hypermiling
:gear: I've done a fair old mileage this month, including grand-daughters birthday in York and daughters OU graduation in Ely. A fair old mix of motorway, dc, and odd A roads. There don't seem to be many people taking much notice or trying to be overtly economic. Maybe one is past so quickly one doe...

Re: Has IAM Roadsmart given up on advanced training?
I haven't read the whole of this thread in detail so apologies if this has already been covered. There is one simple rule when it comes to speed. Only drive up to a speed that allows you to stop comfortably on the tarmac available to stop on. The "risk" from speed alone will then be zero....

At the end of the day: "If you're going to drive, don't do it rubbish."

Re: Useless Observation Links
Maybe it's a bit like flashing headlights. The presence of a wheelie bin just means there is a wheelie bin. That how it works round our way.

Re: IAM Roadsmart’s car crash on social media
I quite like the French 120 dry / 110 wet system. It does seem to be adhered to fairly well. You always get the odd 140 plus who zip past but it's a reasonable compromise. Oh yes, and the M40 is quite a pleasant drive. Except when it's not.

Re: Any Newbury IAM Group members on here?
Don't we all. I'm still a member of Oxford, but they seem to be very quiet and not very active. Newbury is nearer and I'd be happy to subscribe to that as well. What do you get up to? A "not good" website doesn't bode well.

Re: Reg Local - How to pass an Advanced Driving Test
Interesting stuff, particularly as my "daily drive" is Saab 9-5 Aero estate. It's an old school torque convertor 5 speed plus "sport" with paddles for extra play value. It certainly needs to be put into manual in a 30, even more in a 20 or it tends to run on. Out in the real worl...
