Re: Classic hot hatches

I've never owned a hot hatch unless you count my Octavia VRs which was a company-funded car bought at age 48. I remember being very jealous of my brother-in-law's XR3i and Golf GTi (Mk1) but couldn't afford such things with a young family in those days. Wife did have a 205 later on (a 1.3 IIRC) whic...

Re: Hi

I looked at the house in your 1st bike picture and couldn't reconcile the front door with the UK-registered SEAT outside it. Thanks for stopping my brain from hurting.

Re: The most difficult aspect of Advanced Driving

Giving useful feedback. Perhaps it's confidence, but I find it hard to find flaw in other peoples driving as much of the time, they are better than me. We pull over for the debrief and I have nothing usefull to say to help them improve. We all go through that phase. Often it's useful to just say wh...

Re: The most difficult aspect of Advanced Driving

Slowing down enough for corners. My mentor summarised this for me one day as "trying to get away without slowing down, instead of slowing to the point where I could be on the power". Every now and then I get a little prick of conscience when I catch myself doing this, although I'm improving.

Re: Speed differentials

I had an interesting experience a few months ago when we went HGV driving with my RoADAR group. Contrary to what you might expect, with a modern HGV, as you pass, the driver can see you all the way up to his cab door in the various mirrors (whether they're looking is another matter, of course). Wher...
