Go classic. 'Cos I'm old I can remember Classic Minis, Imps, Spitfires.
All of which I had and all were driven flat out.
Flat out that would probably be a problem today.
It's all gone wrong.

Flat out at 70 in an Anglia - scary stuff, it was, really :o

Re: The state of roads.

I believe northern parts of Spain do get snow, but I doubt it's anywhere near what you get up there, and yes that does make a difference to the deterioration of road surfaces. You can go skiing a 90 minute drive from the Mediterranean coast ;) There are ice warnings in the suburbs of Barcelona and ...

Re: Government Think survey

A lot of people see frenetic activity as some kind of 'must have' accessory (the more I rush the harder I'm working kind of thing). I believe that is why the hedges of our heavily potholed Sussex roads tend to be littered with those plastic covers from door mirrors; most often the type that belong t...

Re: Government Think survey

Bit worrying people think speeding is more dangerous than driving too fast for the conditions, but only to be expected given the public brainwashing campaigns telling people it's okay to run kids over so long as you do it slowly enough not to kill them  Interstingly this perception seems quit...

Re: Doing them a dis-service

I think the point that Sussex2 is making is that his pupils are using the same technique for moving off which would result in the car lunging forward if used on the level or downhill. When making a hill start you bring the clutch up to the biting point until you see the nose of the car lift slightl...

Re: Doing them a dis-service

It appears, to me, that they are trying to do hill starts on the flat; something that irked me something rotten when I was teaching ab initio. The problem lay in that the pupil would attempt this method of starting off irrespective of the slope, including downhill. Huh? Hill start on the flat. Care...

Re: All change

ps I've just read a test on the 991 models (I can't be the only person who gets confused by Porsche model numbering) and take what you wrote to be over competence on the part of the car. I think they have to these day otherwise they'd spend half their time in various courts defending themselves... ...
