Re: Live Fast, Drive Hard - My RoSPA Diary

I stopped posting on the forum, but just an update and some closure for those who cared and followed the start of my journey. I had my first test today finally (more kidney surgery and the birth of daughter number 2 intervened in the last few months). I'm pleased to say the result was a Gold. I sha...

Re: Live Fast, Drive Hard - My RoSPA Diary

I thought so too until a few years ago when I was re-tested by an examiner from the ambulance service. Did they have a former life as a police officer though? The test lasts around 45 to 70 minutes, and is taken with a RoSPA Examiner, all of whom are serving or retired Police Officers in the UK. I ...

Re: Live Fast, Drive Hard - My RoSPA Diary

Excellent Diary, keep up the good work, I'm shocked about BGOL with ROSPA, I always thought they was more strict about that the IAM. Stew. Must be a local or individual policy - it's not national! 8-) Just reading through this thread , after 'rejoining' . Was out with a couple of instructors from T...

Re: Roundabout indicating

I agree with those above re the correct procedures for roundabouts as per HC , and the wrongness of what I have seen some drivers ( including occupants of liveried driving school cars ) doing . Re the hand signals : I think a right arm extended outwards , palm open and vertical , is very obviously a...

Re: Roundabout indicating

Oh , and lastly , on this subject , those drivers who approach a roundabout trafficating right , when intending to go straight ahead , are a pet hate of mine too . The number of times I have slowed to give way to an oncoming driver who was doing this , only for them to 'change their mind' and go off...

Re: Roundabout indicating

Indeed , my main worry ( in the mini-roundabout scenario ) would be WVM , in the first place not seeing my signal , hence the comment about eye contact , and secondly , not understanding it . Those of us who were tested on them , ought to know hand signals , younger drivers may not be so familiar . ...

Re: Roundabout indicating

Strangely Brown said:- That means the same rules for signalling apply too. i.e. You don't get to just make up your own signals and hope that everyone else knows what you mean. Signalling right on the approach to a roundabout means that you will be going round it, NOT straight on. It is a misleading...

Re: Roundabout indicating

I have trouble with this roundabout from every angle. My Grandad lives in the cream house with the terracotta roof. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4587325,-1.0467267,3a,75y,128.42h,70.01t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sszpIH34yQqdUaB9jXTNaJg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 As you can see, it's right between two mini ro...
