Re: Lane Discipline

For tailgating I'd have though anything less than a 1 second following gap would be worthy of "falling below the standard expected of a competent driver". You get the gist and I believe it would be do-able both technically and legally. The bar for "competent driver" (at least wh...

Re: Lane Discipline

Can we couple this with technology that says if you can't do more than 10mph more than the vehicle your'e overtaking, you're DWDCA? Lorry racing causes so much unnecessary congestion, particularly on 2 lane roads around here like the M11/A14. I was traveling West on the A31 thruogh the New Forest a...

Re: Mobile phones

They haven't understood the [lack of] mobile phone network coverage around much of the country either.
Now, can we have a ban on touchscreens next

Re: Mobile phones

Adding to Christians point above, the problem we have now is that law breaking is so endemic, there's no possibility of enforcing it. So drivers know that in the main, they can do what they like, and yet feel they don't have to take responsibility for their actions (as if compliance with the law ac...

Re: Advanced Driving or Self Important?

As for using the service station ... my mate was nearly wiped out here yesterday, while filling his bike with fuel, by a van using the forecourt to miss out the ped crossing at red! :o :( Ah yes, there was a similar technique sometimes used at Meon Hut when I was taking part in road rallies as a st...

Only if there's some friction for them to work with. Quite a lot of people seem to think modern electronics exempts them from the laws of physics

Re: Fooling ABS?

I would've thought they were both too old to have EBA? And the early Elises didn't have ABS (at least the ones at Hethel didn't, tho' it may have been turned off) The S1 and early S2 didn't even have a servo. IIRC the Toyota engined S2 was when ABS came in (along with a servo). And agreed, they won...

Re: Fooling ABS?

I thought "Ice mode" was the other way around (ie won't let you brake as hard as you want). Although seems to be stability rather than ABS per-se. Known "problem" on the VX220 and maybe early S2 111R Elise. http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f91/very-scary-brake-problem-today-ice-mo...
