Re: Driver jailed after filming himself driving at 192mph
You forget though, that quote doesn't sound as good in the news. No, I didn't forget. What sounds good in the news doesn't concern me. What does concern me is finding a better answer to the problem: that's the more important consideration. Publicising it, seeking acceptance and then implementation ...

Re: Braking
New automatics are now including "coasting" functions where they disconnect the engine so that you can glide further and improve your fuel consumption. On hybrids such as the Panamera, I believe it even switches off the engine when it opens the clutch (you can only really do it on hybrids...

Re: Braking
Now do that in a modern turbodiesel car with minimal engine braking and see how well the no braking thing works for you. The Yeti seems to give plenty of engine braking? What are you comparing it with? I've driven plenty of the newer VAG diesels and they have 9/10s of sod all engine braking compare...

Re: Driver jailed after filming himself driving at 192mph
Rather than focus on the speed itself, they might do better to condemn the circumstances - lots of traffic, perhaps insufficient forward visibility depending on where the incident happened, expectations of other road users etc. To say nothing of the fact that he's paying more attention to his phone...

Re: Fog
If the fog is quite thick, such that it limits us to a very low speed, I find that using front foglights (and no headlights) works quite well because they give a wide spread of light (but very little forward reach) and being at a low level there is less less glare from light being reflected back fr...

Re: Driver jailed after filming himself driving at 192mph
I think the problem is, the IAM can't support high-speed driving because then the Average Joe will be less inclined to look at the IAM if it comes across as a institute which appears to encourage high-speed driving, because AJ wouldn't want to be associated with a club of 'dangerous' drivers. The on...

Re: Braking
I try to be smooth with my braking, and when nobody is behind me, I will try to avoid using them. On occasion I've come off the accelerator to gently slow down to a lower speed limit, and someone that was a long way behind me, suddenly is gaining, so I just apply light pressure to the foot brake to ...
