Re: RoADAR re-branding and new constitution

It's certainly not my understanding, which is that most if not all IAM examiners are serving or recently retired Advanced police drivers, the old Class 1 classification. I'm pretty confident that Class 2 was also advanced, the final grade being decided by the marks achieved. Yes, I think that's cor...

Re: RoADAR re-branding and new constitution

RoSPA always had a lot fewer examiners and they also insisted that all examiners were class 1 qualified as opposed to the IAM's version which was hundreds of examiners who only had to be advanced drivers. Are you sure that's correct? It's certainly not my understanding, which is that most if not al...

Re: Old school or new school? Both and neither!

Welcome and if you think your old school I'm not sure what that makes me, no doubt there will be the odd rude comment to tell me, but I started driving cars in the early 1950's, too young for a licence  , but no one cared on the quiet lanes, where I grew up, back then. My grandad was ...

Re: Braking

I am in the opinion that phrasing does matter. .... from the sound of it - it does give (say, to a third-party reader) an idea that is wholly not conductive to the purpose of smooth braking. I may have inadvertently misled you. I wasn't suggesting that phrasing doesn't matter. We're ALL of the opin...

Re: Braking

All these descriptions with phases to braking (and equally to steering or anything else really) - the terminology makes it sound like a small step input followed by a bigger one. Fine if your inputs must be rushed, not quite so fine as a planned maneuver aiming at efficiency. Instead, why not talk ...

Re: Braking

I'm sure I read something, somewhere, with an explanation of 3 phase braking that had phase 1 as like an Angel picking a sleeping child up without waking, phase 2 was as firm as the grip by the Angel carrying the child while flying and phase 3 was the Angel laying the sleeping child down on the bed....

Re: One of the dozen

The wall is covered in ivy. There is a small patch of white painted brick on the left running parelell to the road(Church Street). just after this the wall bends left at 90 degrees where a triangular area of grass separates Church Street from Back Lane which comes in from the left at an acute angle...

Re: One of the dozen

I'm also one of those evicted by the IAM (like most of the IAM statements, the '12' is questionable at best!). Like many regular posters, I want to see the IAM achieve the best it can, but fear it will not happen with the current management team, including the CEO. But looking on the bright side, th...
