Re: Avatars
Can anyone advise rem how I reduce a file size to comply with the avatar requirements? I use a mac and my pictures are all in Photos. I did do this once in Windows by moving it into the file manager and then going into Properties - but I can't seem to do that on the mac. Any suggestions?

Of historical interest?
I wonder whether anyone else has ever seen/owned one of these? I did the course in 1970 as a stepping stone to the IAM test. The course was jointly run by the AA and the British School of Motoring who apparently have now forgotten that they ever did it! There again, they had forgotten they'd ever ow...

Re: Next step
I'll still be going for RoSPA gold again though - I'll apply for a retest to take place a few weeks before the Masters to give me another test experience in preparation.

Re: Next step
I was thinking in a similar way - but I mentioned to the RoSPA examiner what my plans had been and he said he thought Masters was an achievable goal, so I went out for a 'taster' with someone else who's already done it and not only got his opinion but watched him do a demo. The IAM's Masters standar...

Re: Next step
Interesting thanks. My speciality seems to be smooth braking. Passengers often comment as did both my instructor and examiner. I got 130,000 miles out of my last set of front discs and 70,000 out of the pads :D Firstly, congratulations on the Silver, although I suspect that, from your pre test post...

Re: Smee's test - specifics
1. Drilled into me to indicate at 300 yards, maybe even a bit before that - don't know why and agree if no one around to see it, why bother? 3. I wouldn't do it in flowing traffic, but when the rearview mirror is entirely clear I will often decelerate from 70 to 50 (ish - depends) on the carriagewa...

Re: Any ROSPA test tips
My wife doesn't drive, but she knows the road signs pretty well from my incessant commentary practice!! So she spot-checks me from time to time. I've also told her about the 'points to watch' from my masters mentor and she will tell me if, for example, I point at something relating to my commentary ...

Re: Any ROSPA test tips
The OP was about tips for a RoSPA test. On my last RoSPA test I concluded my cockpit drill with 'I'm happy that I am familiar with the pedal-pressures to slow and stop this particular car, and the brakes don't pull to one side, grab or bind - if you'd like me to demonstrate a moving test I'm happy t...

Re: Any ROSPA test tips
I think the suggestion of commentary was an excellent one. It's not compulsory but I did it from the start for exactly the reason that it showed the examine my mental processes, my observation and anticipation etc. and made spot checks redundant. Particularly watch for things in the far distance tha...
