Re: Blues and Twos and Traffic Lights
Maybe not which is why the Police rules exist but as advanced drivers shouldn't we have the ability to move safely rather than reacting without thinking?

Re: Blues and Twos and Traffic Lights
This is the problem with 'nerdy' advanced drivers learning rules, believing they know better, and being self-righteous in the face of common sense decision making. Police rules are none of our business. A Police officer clearly indicating to you to move out of his way is obviously an instruction (as...

Re: Blues and Twos and Traffic Lights
He, like me and many others, has clear concerns about motorists being prosecuted and the councils general approach to the defence about assisting emergency vehicles. You do him a disservice by misrepresenting what he's said. Your situation is different. You were instructed by a Police officer to ge...

Re: Blues and Twos and Traffic Lights
Other than internet anecdote and urban legend, I have no idea whether anyone has actually appeared in court for the very specific circumstances upon which you appear to be stuck. The more general point, as you well know, is that these situations should never arise in the first place and until such ...

Re: Blues and Twos and Traffic Lights
There has been similar silliness in Sussex. [snip] Neither of these are examples of prosecutions. Oooh... picky. I didn't say they were "prosecutions". I said they were "similar". Both are examples of stupidly officious behaviour towards drivers by authorities and in both cases ...

Re: Blues and Twos and Traffic Lights
I don't think it's they cannot be prosecuted but in the rare situations driver's have, it doesn't stand up in court when the traffic light camera or police log show the situation. I could be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time  ) but I don't know of any successful prosecutions (excluding tho...

Re: Just curious
... and if Fiat offer free instruction to learner drivers if - and only if - they purchase a Fiat 500? The legislation specifically requires registration in that case. (3) For the purposes of subsections (1) and (2) above, instruction is paid instruction if payment of money or money's worth is, or i...

Re: Just curious
If Porsche or the like offers free driving instruction to purchasers of their cars - and only purchasers of their cars - who hold a full licence and in order to assist them in driving a high-performance car is that paid-for instruction that requires the giver of the instruction to be registered notw...

Re: Requirements for paid driving work
Im looking to move to the Inner Hebrides. I will be undertaking tourism related work across a number of areas (b&b etc). There is an option to do some paid driving work and also unpaid/voluntary driving (community minibus). My question is, do I need any special licence/certificates for the foll...

Re: EU - where did it go wrong?
What is your view in on the loss of sovereignty under NATO membership? We haven't lost sovereignty. NATO does not control the UK armed forces unless they are operating as part of a NATO operation. The UK armed forces can, and do, operate autonomously. Remember 1982? Are you suggesting that was NATO...
