Re: A few more videos
Were those in the still frame going in reverse, then? ;) I commenting on making stopping a thing to always do. I know the video was 50/50 direction wise. It may depend on how rorty your bike is too. Super quiet. To the point I was concerned with the horse not facing me would be startled as I passed...

Re: A few more videos
Perhaps they shouldn't, but then neither should drivers under red mist, or distracted, or impaired - presumably you treat every other road user as a potential problem rather than assume they're all ok?

Re: A few more videos
Passing Horses - Dealing with horses it not difficult. Slow down and give them plenty of space. Or even stop to let them pass. Although, to be fair, if it's the lead rider (you) that spooks them it'll be those following that get hoofed :) This is one of the occasions when a headlamp on/off switch i...

Re: Bought a new Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic
PS what is the point of using IR if the human eye can't see it? Surely that IS the point. ;) The display gives a visual version, that you can see, of the real world IR, that you can't. Things like nice warm bodies dressed in black. FWIW, my old ProTek bike suit, which was foil lined, was so well in...

Re: Bought a new Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic
The point, AFAIK, of IR is to supplement normal vision where visible light isn't sufficient.
As far as info being a distraction, although I've never driven one, I like the idea of reducing the number of things illuminated at night, as done by SAAB several years ago.

Re: Bought a new Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic
with a HUD you can look through the windscreen to see... alternatively, without a HUD you can look through the windscreen! Shouldn't that be 'without an HUD, you might have to look away from the road ahead to get the same information'? But, along with my previous post, this may well depend on what ...

Aren't HUDs focussed so that you see them clearly when looking into the distance, rather than having to refocus from far to near to see what is displayed?

Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"
I don't think this is all that difficult. After all we make allowances for weather conditions, different types of vehicle etc. . Fair point, we can know about extended braking distances or restricted visibility, for examples which apply to both. What are the mitigations that must be applied for cal...

Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"
Perhaps using a phone while driving could have a similar challenge: will my driving deteriorate or improve? If deteriorate, a. how will you tell; b. what's acceptable; c. how will you objectively monitor it? Incidentally that 'deterioration' might in certain circumstances actually be planned to eng...
