Re: Lighting...

The thing I dislike about my auto headlights is I can't switch to main beam on empty side streets with lots of parked cars in town. It ignores the stalk position...

They even seem to cope with fog these days. When I see an...

Re: Posting pictures
What is the easiest free way to put up a photo? Try this ( https://imgbb.com/ ). No need to register. FB etc. d...

https://i.ibb.co/PtwM9CP/20230906-175419.jpg What do we think might have happened here? I wondered whether in view of the signing which surely doesn't meet legal requirements there is no speed limit legally in force (other than the national, which is shown on the other side, both sides of the road)...

Re: Driving with DSG
Interesting. In general my model of good driving involves trying to make all the transitions smooth, but quite happy to use firm braking or acceleration in the middle. On the other hand, in dealing with what I call the 'progress imperative' with IAM Associates, I say: "Imagine you are taking so...

Re: A Local Incident
I prefer more road safety education in schools to young teenagers focusing on psychological factors - dangers, peer pressure, the idea that it is cool to drive safely. Crashes happen more because of wrong attitude than poor skill - when confidence has grown more than experience justifies. I don't th...
