Ah, just like "common" sense

General HC knowledge is so woeful in the UK that I can't imagine how TPTB thought changing it would make any difference at all.

Re: Ford Motor Company "hands Free system"

Why are we even allowing this? It flies in the face of all the human factors research that says humans are terrible at monitoring things that /mostly/ don't need their attention  :hit: I'm not even sure what benefits it offers if you have to pay a meaningful amount of attention. Is keeping you...

Re: Dissertation survey

Don't tell me if you can autopark a car, you can't tell the driver they aren't overtaking and need to move left  Probably prevented by limitations imposed by sensor range. Radar cruise control? A few seconds ahead in the same lane. Moving left? Probably requires awareness of traffic 12-14 sec...

Re: Dissertation survey

Well, legitimising passing either side would free things up, but if folk are so inattentive they can't even be bothered to move left when there's a lane free, I'd much rather have them off the roads altogether. I believe there's a thing called a "bus" or "train" if you don't wan...

There would of course be the increased congestion caused by loss of a running lane, but other traffic management aspects such as variable speed limit gantries would probably remain, so a ‘reverted’ SM may still flow better than before it became smart. Agressively ticketing MLMs would make a signifi...
