Re: Lane closure due to roadworks
Should compliance always trump meeting the expectations of other drivers? I have found similar problems can occur when using suspended operation bus lanes.

Re: Notice of intended prosecution.
I can see the benefit of drivers facing up to their errors but I am not convinced that the Police ought not to do the same. It is they, after all, who issued the NIP incorrectly which apparently doesn't comply with the mandatory requirement of S1 RTOA 1988. Failing to comply with a speed limit is a ...

Re: HC Rule 130
It is the HC that gets quoted in court, not the legislation, unless contravention of the rule is an offence in itself.

Misinformed is a better word. The place mentioned on the NIP cannot be amended. That is why another one has been issued. The relevant question is was the registered keeper misled by the original NIP? If so it is invalid. If the alleged offence could be identified notwithstanding the incorrect road n...

Re: "Jumping" red lights for emergency services

Re: Speed Awareness Course and BRAKE
I doubt driving without insurance would be prosecuted if a policy is voided after the event. On the other hand having your policy ...

Re: Dangerous or just careless?
Maybe there was an extra cone on the give way line continuing the curve to the left. Not convinced it was necessary but at least 10 of the 12 jurors were or that it wasn't far below the standard of a careful and competent driver either way.

Re: Damaged new car
Is a damaged car that has been repaired prior to delivery valued less than one that hasn't? If not, absent a term in the contract stating the vehicle cannot have been repaired prior to delivery, I can't see the problem other than preference.

Re: Motorcycles and SatNav use
None, under this regulation. 1(b) (in conjunction with (4) only relates to which devices are covered by the legislation in addition to mobile phones. That appears to be a very simple test. Is it capable of transmitting and receiving data? If it is, then of course, it is necessary for the device to b...
