Re: Driving instructors and learners - do they drive like each other?

I do know that if I changed up on the advice of the system (in any car I've driven that had one) then I would not be driving safely. I would have no or little reserve of power and any kind of system of driving would fall apart. Hmm, driven with a sensitive foot the Toyota IQ wants you in 5th just b...

Re: Driving instructors and learners - do they drive like each other?

Does anyone know how manufacturers decide the 'change' (up or down) revs? A major factor in up shifts appears to be throttle position - you generally don't get change up suggestions with full throttle or no throttle. The other main factor must be engine load. These will be modified by other factors...

Re: Tyres - available grip during cornering?

Thinking ... accelerating, cornering, braking ... restate the question to how often do riders or drivers trigger dynamic stability control (or similar) or anti-lock braking during normal riding or drivin...

Re: Motorists should be penalised for going just 1mph over the speed limit, Britain’s road policing chief says

I can manage to maintain a speed limit quite happily with occasional glances, I can't see how other drivers can't manage... Perhaps you aren't deaf? :P More seriously, some people aren't able to hear small changes in pitch and/or don't have the fine motor control needed keep the pitch within relati...

In one of our diesel Skodas, once the engine has warmed up, I often use up to 4000 rpm in 1st. Not much point going further but quite useful to get going briskly.

Re: Have diesel cars got a future?

It's interesting how unintended consequences play out. Carbon dioxide emissions appear to have increased already as public policy concerns about the health implications of nitrogen oxides and diesel particulates have risen. If, as seems expected now, diesel powered cars are going to become less comm...

Re: Merry Christmas everyone

the main reason I chose my Citigo over cheaper/more pratical equivalents (such as the 107/Aygo/C1 trio) is because the Up!/Mii/Citigo trio frequently are praised for being one of the more 'fun' city cars to drive Did you try the alternatives and are you able to say how, in your opinion, they compar...

Rather depends on what you value in a car, and how you intend using it. I think it's a great car to drive but, if you tried one, you might find it not to your liking.
