Re: I'm bemused...

This is fine when you have a CC that allows adjustment in fine increments, as it means you can find the sweet spot in allowing you to just maintain a reasonable distance from the car in front, but in the Yeti, the increment adjustment isn't that fine, so I'm always catching myself slowly creeping u...

Re: Pedestrian killed by self driving car.

Maybe what's needed is simply that drivers pay attention. Nigel. It's still the thing that works best. I could pay full attention to a stationary minibus in front of me - instead of being on the phone - but unless I understand what I'm seeing soon enough, then take appropriate action, the situation...

Re: I'm bemused...

Personally, what I would prefer would be a speed limiter. Something I can set to say, 80 on a motorway, and then just use the accelerator to adjust my speed as needed, but safe in the knowledge I won't accidentally speed up and find myself overtaking everything in sight. The Renault Zoe has both cr...

Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"

Insanity, how would you feel if you threw that phone down and started forward (all clear ahead through the windscreen) and then heard the screams from the mother who's child had taken three steps from her and under your bonnet?. I'd think the mother had learned an important lesson about, well, actu...

Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"

I do put my hands up and admit to using my phone while stationary at traffic lights or when stuck in traffic jams, Just be careful here. A chap on another forum I'm on has received an NIP for this. And the evidence was provided by a cyclist using a headcam. (they were stationary at lights in traffi...

Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"

So the court case has ended, with one lorry driver being convicted (rightly) and the other cleared (surprisingly in my opinion). But no mention has been made of what could be the contributory negligence by the minibus driver. From the traffic camera footage, traffic was light at the time and he sho...

Re: Associate cannot keep to the speed limit

In America I drove a car which would resume the previous speed using cruise control. All the cc-equiped cars I have driven since will not allow cc to be engaged below some arbitrary figure (15 / 18 / 20mph). Did his car allow cc from 0mph?

Re: Time lapse of highwat crash in Iowa

I have no idea whether they were planning the escape, but some did manage it. It's still a useful habit to practice (IMO) whether they planned to do so or not. I realised that I didn't explain simply: were they steering away (from collision) or toward (safety)? The result might be the same, but cou...
