Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"

. Oh , and if stopped at lights , or in a traffic jam , turn off your engine and you’re no longer ‘driving’ , therefore no offence in using a handheld device , but it is still best avoided . Still shows , though , that many don’t know the law . IIAC the law states that you must be parked with the e...

Re: Highway Code stopping distances ‘woefully short’ as drivers’ thinking time underestimated

It's all accademic. There are far too many variables to state what a stopping distance is at a given speed. 1. Braking and suspension systems are far better than in the early 1960s 2. Vehicle condition 3. I agree that the reaction time of .75 of a second is for most too short, especially with the di...

TBH, I'd be happy if they simply showed they could pass a basic L-test on a regular basis from the standard I often see

Re: First accident...

On the telly a few days ago there was one of those caught red handed type programmes dealing with fraud. One incident involved two busses. One, whilst pulling out around the other caught the rear screen with the ns mirror smashing the screen. A passenger on the stationary bus put in a claim for whip...

Re: First accident...

It can get worse :( Filly had a non-fault claim after a guy drive into the back of her car when she was stationary. His insurers paid up, so no cost to her. But the fact that she'd even had to claim put up my insurance! [Named driver on my policy] If I'd known this was likely, I would have had it a...

Re: First accident...

Unfortunately, if your insurers have to fight the supposedly fraudulent injury claim in court, this could affect your insuance. Seven or eight years ago a boy on a bycycle rode out from behind a six foot wall into the side of my car causing about £600 of damage. Although there was no fault on my beh...

Re: First accident...

Just stick to your version of events and DO NOT change them. Any inconsistancies in the other parties version of events will hopefully go against them.
Insurance companies are on to fraudulent whiplash claims.

Yes, I remember the DS. Rather ahead of it's time for the mid 1950s. Didn't it have hydropneumatic self- levelling suspension ?

Re: Headlights too bright

I'm old enough to remember when indicators were seperate from head lights. It was so much easier to see an indicator, unlike modern cars. And yes I am colour blind which doesn't help. But like so many things, low profile wide tyres it's fashion, and what the manufacturers tell the customer they need...

Re: M1 Minibus "Accident"

The research posted by Horse and the point made by Gareth make perfect sense. A vehicle parked at an angle would stand out more than one parked in line with flowing traffic. And the intensity and relatively high number of flashing light of any colour would confuse. High powered halogen lights do bli...
