Re: Survey

I thought the reason Douglas Adams came up with 42 was because it was the ASCII code for a space not in any of the usual bases: Oct Dec Hex Char 040 32 20 SPACE 042 34 22 " 052 42 2A * 102 66 42 B So depending on whether you're using Octal, decimal or hex, it could be a quote mark, an asterisk...

"About one-third of drivers drive too fast for the conditions on the road," Really? How can they possibly know? "I look at my speedometer more than I used to, and I’m careful not to speed. If I don’t know the speed limit I tend to stick to 30. I think it definitely makes you a safer d...

Re: 20 mph limits - safer?

Given my previous interactions with South Glos council, I wonder how similar the views are in BANES where DfT guidance is routinely ignored by councillors imposing the limits. Quite frankly I'd see them personally held liable for the costs, and the powers taken away from bodies that consistently dem...

Perhaps because the driver is on their own, rather than supervised? Why do you think it is?

You said they got safer. My assumption was that their accident rate increased, hence the increase in premium.

Re: Masters assessment

Intriguingly, learners get 'safer' (at least, have fewer reported crashes) as they continue on driving solo, so they do seem to improve, learn. The challenge is whether 'that' learning can be incorporated into 'L' training and testing (because if it isn't tested then it's unlikely to be trained)? S...
