Re: Cutting Corners - Major to Minor

If I've the view then I'll use the extra part of the road to turn in earlier with less off a sharp turn. This ^^. If I have the view and there is no vehicle approaching in the side road then I may cut, otherwise it's strictly by the book and use only my own side of the road. It is a personal bugbea...

Not necessarily. They could be being lead. :)

Q. When is a horse not a horse?
A. When it is being lead.

Sorry. That just came back to me from a very old childhood "joke" book.

Re: Notice of intended prosecution.

Incidentally, I believe that style of (s)camera can be triggered by vehicles going in the opposite direction That was why I asked the direction. The camera as seen on streetview looks like a Gatso to me and, AIUI, they are not type approved for forward facing use. Anyway, if fungus is confident tha...

Re: Car crime in your area?

In order for that to be of use you would need to define "vehicle/car crime".

Quite interesting though. No real surprises as to where all the big red splodges are.

Right... I'm off to Scotland. There is no car crime at all up there. :)

Re: Rule of Thirds - Overtaking

The same overtake can be seen in a Tesla, here (11:40):

I still don't like the view.

Re: Rule of Thirds - Overtaking

The problem with looking at things on video is that the image is necessarily distorted. Perceived distance and field of view are not the same as for the MK1 eyeball. The google car is even worse because the camera is about 8 feet in the air. In an MX5 or a Caterham you are *considerably* lower and t...

Re: Rule of Thirds - Overtaking

On the second one, I think the view was there long enough to be confident that you'd have seen anything you need to worry about coming out of the dip, going into it. That sounds like relying on local knowledge as to there being nowhere for a car to stop and then pull away unsighted. First one - rea...

Re: Rule of Thirds - Overtaking

I agree, not on. I don't particularly like the overtake of the bike into dead ground at 24:30 either.

Re: What verge?

The offence, as any fule kno, is that of entering an area of chevrons bounded by a solid line (HC 130).
