Re: Young Drivers (again)

You would expect to pay more in order to have access to an offroad facility[/b]. Seems steep but it could be a cartel - there are several equivalents offered online at that sort of price. One of the young driver session venues is Newbury Showground. I rented a 300 metre straight stretch of road the...

Re: Young Drivers (again)

It's also worth looking at Young Driver: https://www.youngdriver.eu/lessons_and_experiences You can buy one lesson at a time, so you aren't committed to a whole week in one go or going every single week. And the instructors are, in my experience, excellent at making safe driving fun for teenagers. ...

Some good stuff in there and useful pointers. I know no video is perfect, however ... Planning to stop, looking to go? If the car hadn't stopped, that horn wouldn't have saved him. Incorrect approach speed. https://youtu.be/KN4dCOD_h4A?t=1771. His speed through the roundabout and past the stationar...

Re: Cameras should automatically fine drivers who go more than 10mph over the limit

This is just another example of the sort of silly click-bait nonsense that the IAM seems to believe raises their profile in the eyes of the general public. It doesn’t. Joe Public doesn’t bother to read any of this guff. All it does is irritate the relatively small number of the membership that happe...

Having followed a car for quite some time an opportunity came to overtake. Pleased with myself for executing a perfect overtake only to ge...

Re: The nightmare has arrived, or has it?

I know it's not the news organisation making the comments in the article but some of those they relayed do make me wonder, however they've used a click-bait headline driver overtakes FOUR cars in a row by driving the wrong way down the road that fairly drips with false outrage. It’s peurile “click ...

... which satisfies the mantra... "the furthest point on the surface of the road seen to be clear, and likely to remain so". @hir any idea where you picked it up from? I could only have been picked it up from police class 1 drivers; on different occasions and from different officers. It’s...

Re: Has IAM Roadsmart given up on advanced training?

I haven't read the whole of this thread in detail so apologies if this has already been covered. There is one simple rule when it comes to speed. Only drive up to a speed that allows you to stop comfortably on the tarmac available to stop on. The "risk" from speed alone will then be zero....

Re: Has IAM Roadsmart given up on advanced training?

… I had one recently. The associate is keen to reduce fuel consumption, so questions the "making progress”. I say… the Examiner wants to see that a) you know the speed limit and b) you can drive to that limit if safe. Exactly this. I’m perhaps even more blunt. I also tell them that they have s...

I’m interested to know in what way, or ways, has the IAM test been watered down? And, what did life used to be like?
