Re: Braking

And Google too it seems. Who told any of them it was a good idea to design them in the first place? There are better things to invest in in terms of personal transport. Hopefully, just a passing phase.

Re: How does advanced driving deal with a modern manual gearbox

My little petrol car will happily do 30mph in 5th on the flat, although at only around 1500 rpm it doesn't seem natural. The turbo kicks in at over 2k revs. Like you, I can't see if it's more economical than in lower gears. But if I wanted better economy I would have bought a different car in the fi...

Re: Braking

Braking: do enough of it to avoid hitting anything. Sorted. :D

Re: How does advanced driving deal with a modern manual gearbox

The one in the centre of the instrument cluster doesn't, on mine, but I did see a prompt to change down on the green-leaf-eco-score-thingy on the main display the other day. To those who suggest tape, it'd have to be bigger than I want to cut out the parallax, and anyway I don't fancy having to exp...

Re: How does advanced driving deal with a modern manual gearbox

Some electrical insulation tape in the right spot would probably cover that up nicely. A very hi-tech solution. I'll patent that sell it to those gullible Seat Octopus owners ;)

OK, chriskay, that's my idea... patent pending! :D

Re: Citigo - 300 miles later.

Trust me, in the middle of winter when it's well below freezing, those heated seats will be very welcome. Of course, that warm feeling could just mean that the car is on fire. In which case, you really would have a hot hatch!

Re: One of the dozen

"Law of the jungle" may be an unfortunate phrase - are you suggesting everyone is entitled to use their superior power against weaker members of the community? That's the reason we have democracy, a judicial system, and a Police force - to ensure that the "law of the jungle" doe...

Re: One of the dozen

The trouble with you lefties is you have this victim mentality where if someone isn't 100% for you, they're 100% against you. Of course, like any competent and considerate motorist, I respect other road users and do my best not to compromise their safety. But that doesn't mean I believe all road us...

Re: Citigo - 300 miles later.

Glad you're enjoying it. It's a tidy little car, with a very characterful engine. Try not to go too mad with that right pedal ;) As for this fallacy that some cars aren't designed for motorway driving? Honestly, people have been driving cars on the motorways for decades. Cars of the 70s, 80s and ear...

Re: All change

I have to agree with you on this. Too many modern cars feel sterile. Competent, but they don't induce any real emotion. I drove a couple of Seat Ibiza's, one with 140hp, and they both felt heavy and numb. Not good for a small car. Same with the VX Corsa and other cars I've tried. The last Mazda 2 o...
