Re: Learners on motorways
I think it is a good idea but I'm sure the instructors will feel very vulnerable. Especially if sticking rigorously to the displayed speed on the dash.

Re: Associate cannot keep to the speed limit
I once took out an Associate who used the cruise control for all speed adjustments by clicking on the up and down buttons. He explained this as what the car dealer had told him to do rather than using the throttle! I'll admit I often do this depending on conditions and the road layout. Even better ...

Re: Dangerous safety system?
And then look at the marketing on this one. The car will keep you safe! PMRnVqQVDwo Other manufacturer adverts are doing the same. Volvo have one where the car even takes avoiding action. I hope it doesn't count me on my motorcycle as expendable, compared to hitting the car in front, if I'm coming t...

Re: Dangerous safety system?
The lawyers have been at the words for this one! ;) What is the point any of these types of 'auto braking' features if it can't be trusted to work? They just create a false sense of security. Some significant "it my not work" points at the end. Particularly worrying for motorcycl...

Re: Driving instructors and learners - do they drive like each other?
I can turn my ABS off by going into Race mode. That turns everything off and I'd never use it on the road. Sport mode detunes ESC sensitivity while using more revs by holding each gear longer (it also alters the timing/fuel a little). You can hold the sport mode button in to then flip through some o...

Re: Driving instructors and learners - do they drive like each other?
Just the same as if the car didn't have DSC or ABS, one hopes, else it's a short step to disallowing driving cars to be driven without them fitted. They are mandatory now. Not sure what you're saying here. Would you refuse to drive a car without an electronic stability control system? No, but I wou...

They are mandatory now. ABS is also mandatory on motorcycles.

Re: Driving instructors and learners - do they drive like each other?
D/ESC mandatory on normal production cars since 2014(?) ABS since 2004? Maybe they never get activated in normal driving, but in today's litigious society, if one ended up in an RTC through no fault, I wonder how insurance companies would react if they found out DSC was switched off, or the ABS fus...

Can I ask why you want it to turn it off?
Can we turn synchromesh off?
PS. Let him enjoy it while he can. There will be no manuals soon. The march of DCT continues. They keep adding more gears. It won't be long before all you can buy are CVT or electric with no gears.
