Re: Motorcycle videos
There are often arguments about view, safety, etc. that may influence your decision which leg to take. The van in my clip got stuck because going the way he did the angle is horrible, and many are like that. I genuinely intersted if anyone has any legal reason why the van couldn't have turned before...

Re: Motorcycle videos
So if I don't want to wait behind the white van, I can nip up that handy bit on the right? https://maps.app.goo.gl/aYKN5k6HkGK8Srsu9?g_st=ic Not in your linked junction as there is a handy Keep Left Blue Arrow ;) Even accepting what Chapter 3 says, I would expect the normal reaction from other road...

Re: Motorcycle videos
I'm only looking at it on a phone screen, but it looks as if the 'give way' broken lines go all across the width. However, is there any keep left blue circle sign? What about traffic emerging, could they go either side too? I'll not play my cards yet, but probe you for some further info ;) The Give...

Re: Motorcycle videos
Me saying the 3rd van should have turned right before the green triangle / Godcake, caused a lot of discussion on YouTube. What are everyone's thoughts?

Horse wrote::cheers: Good spot on the third van's right turn
On YouTube, yet again someone is questioning what I said about the van could have turned before the green triangle. These country/village junctions are poorly understood by many.

Re: Motorcycle videos
Nice to see you keeping well back, so the van can see you in it's mirrors. Far too many bikers come up too quick and close for the overtake, giving little chance for the van to be aware of their presence before they overtake. Given the acceleration available there should be no need to get so close ...

Re: Motorcycle videos
Some video footage of me on an everyday social ride in the countryside and some vans that I encountered along the way. Two resulted in overtakes and one just needed some time and space.

[devilsadvocate mode=on] The trouble is with all safety standards, they start off as a no brainer, sensible idea and quickly descend to this being required by some ;) https://media.gettyimages.com/id/458414777/photo/medieval-warrior-on-the-iron-horse.jpg?s=612x612&w=gi&k=20&c=M5NpzvQfAlB...

Re: High-Performance Award for bike clobber
Or perhaps IAM & ROSPA should campaign to get the official regulators/standards to include AAAA & AAAAA

Re: High-Performance Award for bike clobber
[mode=devilsadvocate] All gear now advertised/sold has to be marked as A, AA or AAA (though that is poorly enforced) There's no legal requirement to wear protective clothing. So if you are in the market for gear, surely you buy what goes with your personal cost/risk analysis. I personally ride in AA...
