Re: Intro

Postby Triquet » Sun Dec 03, 2017 6:20 pm Hello Geoff, I'm just up the road in Steventon. JIm Hello Jim, Lucky man! We used to go to the North Star or the Cherry Tree (and another pub which I think has closed) for lunch when I worked at RAL. And you have a superb Bakery, which I visit if I am passin...

Re: Please Explain

Thank you all for those responses. Especially to Nick for explaining why some of my postings disappeared. Yes, the 'Full Editor and Preview' changes can (at first) make it somewhat confusing. I must admit I am not used to 'Social Madia'! - Geoff :)

Please Explain

Perhaps I am old and thick (I am certainly old), but I haven't quite sussed how this chat-room works. There seems to be some delay between postings being sent and appearing - is everyone vetted by 'Big Brother'? And why do some postings which I read yesterday seem to be missing today, and some I thi...

Nick,
PS I used to call it the 'Yellow Peril', for obvious reasons. I hope that doesn't get me accused of racism! - Geoff.

Re: Intro

Nick, I love your car! My last MX5 was yellow - because it is one of the safest colours (See and Be Seen). And I never had any trouble finding it in a car park. They don't do any bright colours any more - I can't understand why! (I suppose Yellow is a bit like Marmite - some people love it, others h...

Jim,
Lucky man! When I worked at RAL, we used to go occasionally to lunch at the North Star or the Cherry Tree, or another pub which I think has closed. And of course, you have a superb bakery! - Geoff.

Re: Flat bottomed steering wheels - why??

I steer my glider with a stick - left to go left, right to go right, back and forward to go up and down.
Has anyone thought of fitting a car with a stick? (back and forward obviously unnecessary, until we get these flying cars). 8-)

Has anyone asked why wheels are round in the first place?

Re: Call to fit automated speed limiting technology to cars

Could I add my thought? Rather than have a speed limiting device (which could be dangerous in some cases where an extra bit of speed can improve safety, eg when overtaking), why not have an in-car sound (striking bell?) which warns when the speed limit is being exceeded, is annoying, and cannot be s...

David and Nick,
I don't think I am giving away any secrets if I tell you that the Newbury Chief Observer is a member of this Group,
and attends driving meetings when his time allows.
