Re: Hypermiling
A modern car running downhill with the engine idling will I feel sure use more fuel than one using engine compression to help retard it. We did a simple test of this at work where the Spanish/French drivers had been taught to coast downhill (common practice a generation or so back when there were l...

Re: Hypermiling
Yes I quite agree Tom - there is some rubbish advice on t'internet...things like putting it in neutral while slowing...or using really high gears when travelling at 30mph. Re: Theory questions - not multiple choice
There are so many tunnels where I live (17 on one regular journey) that the radio would need to be on all the time. I rarely listen to music or radio when driving, have never liked it, doesn't aid concentration or enable relaxation. A new phenomena has crept onto the roads hereabouts (NE Spain/Franc...

Re: Has IAM Roadsmart given up on advanced training?
I wonder why anyone bothers with the IAM as all the organisation does is follow the government propaganda and has done for years.

Re: E-scooters safer than bicycles - says ROSPA
In Spain you may only ride e-scooters on the road and not the pavement. The things are classed as a vehicle so the rules as regards helmets/drinking etc all apply.
I am sure it is not perfect but it seems to work quite well.
For getting about town I wouldn't mind one.

Re: Once is careless, 5 times...?
Most cars these days have speed limiters fitted and some have a nice little display of the current limit - two quick clicks and it can be set. Given the greater priority now (at last) being given to more vulnerable road users the lady should have had more sense. Having said that and even with the te...

In Spain these vehicles are exactly that, vehicles.
The things must be drive on the road and all rules apply to them.

Re: IAM Roadsmart’s car crash on social media
Very disillusioned with the direction the IAM is going these days. That's why I decided not to renew my membership last year... Mainly prompted by the survey at the time about how to reduce accidents/fatalities on rural roads (I think it was) where there was no option for additional training and th...

130 dry and 110 wet?
