Err? It's not just you! Nobody on this forum is keen on an offside approach to blind bends.

I can't think of any contributor here who would advocate an offside approach to a blind bend. Can you?

Re: Reg Local - How to pass an Advanced Driving Test

Reg's Video: I was surprised at just how muddled Reg's video section on "off-siding" was. The video is part of a series titled how to pass an advanced driving test. He is clearly demonstrating and explaining what is required to pass an IAM or RoSPA test. So, half way through his explanati...

Re: Brake and their RoadMap

does not make you less of a driver if you are overtaken, To achieve this would require a massive change in mindset, not just for driving. A radical move to prosocial attitudes, acceptance and understanding of inner locus of control, etc. The approach that jonquirk outlines above, is exactly how dri...

Re: Brake and their RoadMap

Brake’s approach is counterproductive because it will lead to some drivers acting to impede others overtaking in the mistaken view that they are helping to prevent a dangerous act. It is probably unrealistic to expect to teach everyone how to overtake, and the roads would get pretty chaotic if ever...

Re: Brake and their RoadMap

Surely the whole point of being able to complete the manoeuvre within 50% of the distance judged as being available is because it is impossible to guarantee getting right. Just a thought but, I would suggest an overtake needs to be completed within one third of the distance seen to be clear. If you...

Re: Brake and their RoadMap

Just a thought before I sign up for Brake... does anyone know if Brake advocate banning all overtaking, including when walking or cycling? I think we should be told! I am an elderly model of the human race and now now walk at a reduced speed (and a little unsteadily). During Lockdown I would camp o...

Re: Brake and their RoadMap

If it's impossible to judge the speed of oncoming traffic, perhaps the police should be banned from overtaking. The police are allowed to overtake because they're specially trained to overtake safely, they have massive blue lights and deafening sirens, and every driver around them just slams on the...

Re: Brake and their RoadMap

So Brake (bless them) have released a 'RoadMap to Safe and Healthy Journeys'...basically a posh website with guidance and advice... ...but nothing about improving driving skills  That’s not really surprising. I estimate that probably 98% of drivers are simply not interested in improving their...

Re: IAM Bad Habits

... but it is not the right answer either and it wouldn't be difficult to advise that you should let the temperatures etc. of oil / water / gearbox get to their working level and this will differ for each car... I agree, it wouldn't be difficult to advise, but the advice would be impossible for the...

Re: Reg Local - How to pass an Advanced Driving Test

Much as I admire Reg, and indeed accept that following his advice will get you through an advanced driving test, I disagreed with a lot of his comments… …I am posting here on the grounds that most forum members are fairly expert, rather than under the video or on Pistonheads where I would be puttin...
