Re: texting and driving
It's a lot easier to text whilst driving without the pressure of your peers compared to drink driving. I wonder how many people who text/facebook whilst driving still do it whilst there's someone else in the car. Compared to down at the pub with your friends where they are aware that you're driving ...

Re: Just to say
There was a section for associates on the old IAM forum for people working towards their test but I don't think it had very much traffic. It certainly wasn't mentioned to me by my observer, but not sure that's because he wasn't aware of its existence or he didn't see a benefit in it - Why would I ne...

Re: Next step
Would definitely recommend trying to drive with as many other advanced drivers as possible, from both the driving and passenger seat. It really helped improve my driving having other peoples opinions and seeing how they drove. Nobody drives the same or has the same ideas, so you can take things you ...

Re: Any ROSPA test tips
I happen to know my vehicle does not have any special seatbelt sensors (or at least as far as I can establish through the manufacturer) and only has the webbing inertia reel mech It's probably got a pretensioner too which uses similar (the same?) sensors as the air bags to detect a collision and ti...

Re: Paying above list price for a car.
Honestly, don't be daft and please never pay above asking price Never pay above asking or never pay above list? It's worth whatever someone will pay for it, and everyone has a different idea of value. I guess in this situation you're paying to jump the queue, there's not a limited supply and you co...

Re: Hello from West Sussex
Well done, sounds like you're doing great - Hope you're enjoying it too. For commentary videos I do like Reg's style - I think it's probably one of the latest videos on commentary and hence maybe a bit more relevant as the style of commentary seems to have changed over time. Plenty of other ones too...

Re: First Time Automatic Owner
Reg Local has given some thoughts about it in his book and a couple of threads on pistonheads. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=383133 http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1597721 His advice is to remember that the DCT is not a traditional automatic with fluid couplin...

Re: What was your first car?
My parents got a car for my older brother to learn in and then when I turned 17 I learnt in it too and we shared it. Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?
Are you certain that your company wouldn't be able to find more engineers if it offered higher salaries? One effect of easier migration is to keep UK salaries lower. Theory - money doesn't motivate engineers*, challenge, mastery and making a contribution does. u6XAPnuFjJc *Providing they're paid en...
