There were a lot of autonomous cars to be seen on the roads around here, but they seem to have mostly gone.
Oh yes, it's half-term.

Re: What Happened?
It's not necessarily about taking it seriously. As long as it is a branch of the legal system, it will forever be investigating collisions with the question to be answered being: "What legal offences were made en route to hitting the tree/wall/rock/car/truck/pedestrian?". What is needed i...

Re: Dead steering: no feedback
You don't need power steering to lose feedback. In (IIRC) 1971 I was driving a little Sunbeam Stiletto and hired a Morris Marina while it was in for service (no courtesy cars in those days). For the first few corners I actually thought I the road must be slippery because I couldn't feel a thing! Ex...

Re: The state of roads.
People should get a life and stop moaning. I drove to and from Cornwall on Friday. Apart from the road works where they're building the "missing link" on the A30 the roads are generally excellent. In fact, the majority of our motorways and trunk roads are of a high standard. If you live s...

Re: The state of roads.
Slight drift, hope you enjoyed the North as it is one of my favourite places. I'd move to San Sebastian (Donostia) tomorrow if I could. The trip on the 'economy' ferry to Santander is worth a forum of its own though  Yes, enjoyed it. Stayed at an hotel at Playa de Brria, near Santona. Truth i...

Re: The state of roads.
I believe there was a Top Gear challenge where they went to Spain and the Trio discovered lots of empty villages of really nice houses which were empty because the government had poured loads of money into building houses but none of the citizens had the money to purchase them. Ah, but don't you se...

Re: The state of roads.
Spain is made up of autonomous states and there are several official languages; this brings about the marked differences region to region. There has been a huge move in the last 30 years to improve the infrastructure of road and rail. This has resulted in the largest motorway and fast rail links in ...

Re: The state of roads.
just be grateful your roads are being maintained at all - can't remember the last time they looked after our local roads - and with continual gravel lorries on them they are dreadful - I have just had to replace a suspension part on the z3 13 months after it was put on and c. 6,000 miles when the p...

Re: The state of roads.
Just back from a holiday in Northern Spain. Roads immaculate. Unlike here. Why? Slight drift, hope you enjoyed the North as it is one of my favourite places. I'd move to San Sebastian (Donostia) tomorrow if I could. The trip on the 'economy' ferry to Santander is worth a forum of its own though :ro...

Re: The state of roads.
Didn't the Spanish government spend a huge amount on road and other civil engineering projects a few years ago? The UK could choose to do the same (maybe instead of throwing money at London  ) Instead it spends more on shitty patches that don't last, and gravel chippings that destroy my paint...
