Re: Advanced Driving or Self Important?
Are any laws being broken in either case though? I don't think so. What about the sign in the video's embedded image? Left lane left turn only, right lane straight ahead and right turn. For me I've always gone by the "It's only paint" with regard to lane markings, but signs make them expl...

Re: Explaining and developing gear selection with a 'student'.
Wrong question, surely? Shouldn't you ask about teaching/coaching ability? Some subject experts can't pass on that knowledge, let alone help others to improve. No, it was a valid question. I accept your point about some experts; however, there are a lot of "non-experts" out there who can ...

Re: Explaining and developing gear selection with a 'student'.
I'm merely a driving enthusiast trying to teach my friend how to drive like I do. (For better or worse!) I think roadcraft gives a solid foundation from which to work, so I gave her it to read. No strong affiliation to any particular method or 'lot'. I have no desire to do observing or tutoring off...

Re: Live Fast, Drive Hard - My RoSPA Diary
It was my group who suggested the diploma as something to work towards, as it's something they'd be willing to pay for. We only have one diploma holder at the moment and he's not sure he can continue on with the group due to his work commitments. I had my first outing with an associate last week an...

Re: 15000 miles later
??? Are we still talking about fixed throttle/increasing engine revs “blipping” to achieve a smoother change into a higher gear (?); that seems to fly against the norm. What sort of car/gearbox is being discussed – could it be something with an exceptionally light flywheel?

Re: Is AD 'better driving'?
A few discussions recently seem to me to come together... - do others understand the value of advanced driving> if not, why not? - what is the incentive to be an AD - autonomous cars........random thoughts, but the nail that stands out can cause issues - a pursuit of excellence in driving may not a...

Re: Of historical interest?
It is the AA's version of a Roadcraft based test. Instead of Gold, Silver and Bronze there are 5 star, 4 star etc. It is very difficult to say that 5 star is similar to Gold etc, but that's the idea. At the moment the test is only being used commercially as opposed to being offered to private indiv...
