Re: Lane closure due to roadworks
Back to merge in turn briefly and to give some context to the discussion and comments made earlier in this thread, I have a couple of points that may be of interest: * On a high speed road if the traffic flow is high enough then it is lane 2 that will be closed with a chicane leading back to lane 2 ...

Gosh, I think someone was over-thinking when they made this rule

Re: So how do you cope with these crossings?
Probably not but in my view one is more likely to solve the problem than the other.

Re: Cockpit Drill
Since the seat belt is there to help you in a collision, I would have thought that as long as it's on before you set off then that would be adequate. But that's just my thought, I'm new to all this.

Re: Commentary Driving
Just seen this, that list is really useful for me too as I'm practising getting my commentary up to speed. It's helpful to have understood phrases to use which stops me having to think too much about how to say what I'm seeing whilst I'm on commentary. Once I'm more practised no doubt I will start t...

Re: GBOL & DSG Gearbox
Thank you Pontoneer, I think perhaps the key is to ensure it is smooth and unhurried and to tailor the method to the vehicle. I guess if that involves BGOL then it may be OK. I have developed a very particular way of driving the DSG and to be honest it took at least three months to understand it ful...

Re: GBOL & DSG Gearbox
Thanks waremark. my current observer does not disagree, it's just a talking point and interestingly, she also mentioned that as long as I talk my reasons through with an examiner, that would show my thought process and the reason. As for the sport mode on my Audi, yes it is basic but that keeps it i...

Re: GBOL & DSG Gearbox
Oh yes, sport mode would resolve the issue as it won't allow the revs to drop below 4,500 but that's not really ideal for normal driving and might be frowned upon on my observed drives with IAM )

Re: GBOL & DSG Gearbox
Thanks for your replies everyone. Jont, I agree that the harder your driving the DSG the smoother the gear changes are and that is part of why I raise the question I suppose. GTR1400, I think your Renault is a little more spohisticated than my Mk 1Audi Audi TT which was the first production car to h...

GBOL & DSG Gearbox
Hi, with a sequential gearbox like VAG's DSG or S-tronic the ability to block gear change is removed. The problem here is that having removed your speed prior to a junction (roundabout or otherwise) having just left yourself time to change to the appropriate gear to advance my DSG box can sometimes ...
