Re: Motorists should be penalised for going just 1mph over the speed limit, Britain’s road policing chief says
My Clio has a large digital speedo. Even the cruise control can't stop it going 1 mph over or below all the time! When I did my IAM test one of the comments during the feedback was the display often showed 31 in town. I'd just been given a F1rst so wasn't about to argue about the real speed vs the d...

Horse wrote:"Hands on the wheel for 25 seconds in 35 minutes". That's not too shabby from the car's perspective!

Next you'll be insisting that you want to see a cashier on a checkout in the supermarket ;) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-42769096 Insist no, but prefer yes :) A year down the line there are no cashiers. "Our analysis shows that nobody was using cashiers, so we are doing what the customer...

How many next year, 12? 14? 16? The future is CVT, but they haven't realised yet.

Re: GBOL & DSG Gearbox
Another of the advantages of avoiding BGOL is that your have both hands free for steering. When driving manually with flappy paddles, that's another reason negated. As I pointed out earlier with a DSG in auto mode it doesn't care where it changes gear. In fact it will BGOL a LOT when braking to make...

Re: Why autonomous cars won't be able to drive properly...
How about the non-autonomous car is trying to merge into a lane full of autonomous cars. At what point does one of them ease off to let you blend in? There are loads of situations like this that make driving/riding a dance where all the participants have to cooperate. Or perhaps they are programmed ...

Yes, I've had all the discussions about brine etc.
Yes, the sticky stuff. ABP. Agricultural By Products, mixed with the salt. Hard to get anyone to admit to what product they actually spread.
Don't get me started on forecasts. Generally they are over pessimistic or over optimistic click bait!

Re: Nitty Gritty Truth
It's a constant discussion of why their forecasts differ so much from the actual weather. It's quite regular they spread when quite mild and even when rain forecast. Yes the 'duty of care' card. What about what the roads are like for longer after the frost would have long gone? That balance never ge...
