Re: Driving instructors and learners - do they drive like each other?

I don't know how often you change (buy or borrow) cars, but you may be in for an unwelcome surprise if you try that in some other modern cars, which switch the throttle off if the brakes are applied. waremark mentions that he has come across cars that don't allow heel and toe, but my understanding ...

Re: Hands on the wheel

I don't remotely imagine that this is what Allen had in mind, but in fact IAM Observers used to be encouraged to advocate a method that constituted steering with one hand...

Re: Associate cannot keep to the speed limit

I had a candidate this week who mentioned in the pre-drive checks that the car was equipped with a speed limiter, and that it may be used. In the end it wasn't, but I would have considered that appropriate. Whether that is an abdication of the driver's responsibility, as Alasdair suggests, or an adv...

Mmm. I'd be looking at the signs when driving, though. And "the map" seems to have some other inaccuracies, so I wouldn't take it as authoritative!

*Cough* M3 J6 spur.

Looks like the motorway ends just before the roundabout?

I'm fairly sure the roundabout at the M58 / M6 junction is all motorway - and it's got traffic lights on it!

Re: Keep drivers alert? Add scenery......

What do people think of this: sign I find them distracting. There is a pair at the Liverpool end of the M62, and they can be almost dazzling, especially at dusk. There's also one at the M6 / M5 split at Walsall. Something in my mind told me that advertizing was not allowed on motorways - hence the ...

Re: "High risk" roads

The Cat and Fiddle has ended up very odd. Last summer, coming back from a conference in Derbyshire, I came upon five vehicles travelling never more than 45 miles an hour on the average-speed enforced section. The view revealed over a mile of clear road, with none of the drivers ahead looking to over...

Geoff - you are most welcome! And I'm delighted to hear that IAM Roadsmart groups are recommending AD Hub. I look forward to meeting you on a driving day soon.

My own MX-5 (an NB facelift) had a new sill and wheel-arch because of rust. It left me with no regrets, though!

As people probably know already, AbeBooks was taken over by Amazon some time ago.
