Re: Stopping an auto smoothly
I'm still not sure what the problem is, you must keep your foot on the brake or it will creep. If you have jerking in every car you drive perhaps you should approach junctions etc a bit slower so you can fine tune the stop. You can't be motionless in an automatic without your foot on the brake or i...

The video would help. If he's been nearside at the bottom of the picture, he may well have had the view offside where you're describing, then be moving back nearside. Difficult to tell without context.

Oh go on then. Just got our first smattering of snow (1/2" max) Not worried though got my Crossclimates on :D Are winter tyres really worth the hassle? I've got winter wheel/tyre sets for the Boxster and the Beemer (1 series coupe, 2l diesel...) but so far I've not driven enough to care...

Re: Intelligent Speed Assistance
A Citroen C3 with this technology, didn't miss a single sign on a 4 hour plus drive from Barcelona to Val d' Aran...not all motorway but good quality roads. I was in a Volvo a few years ago with speed sign recognition. It picked up the signs beautifully. The driver, even with that assistance, less ...

Re: Motorcycle airbag jackets
I was having a coffee a few weeks ago alongside a Police motorbike course on their break. The instructor was wearing a Helite jacket with the attaching bungee, and the students had ones with wireless proximity sensors. No more embarrassing "pop" if you forget to detach before walking away...

In my (RoSPA) group, of the 6 or 7 car tutors 4 are actively shielding, and that leaves me as the sole advanced tutor able and free to do pre-tests.
We do have a few associates but they're thin on the ground right now.

Re: Reg Local and speed...
My inference was that if you drive "sensibly" at 80-85 mph then a) it's on your own head and take the consequences, b) you'll get a big fine but not disqualified for > three figures. To really up the general standard of driving, insurance companies need to be given either a carrot or stick...

Re: On Shadows
Indeed. B road from Chieveley to Pangbourne at the weekend, driving wearing sunnies. Entered a wood, with a crest. Cyclist in dark clothing at the top of the crest, not far in. Late pickup by me, firmer braking than I would normally like, and it would have been a little more interesting had there be...
