Re: Flat bottomed steering wheels - why??
I steer my glider with a stick - left to go left, right to go right, back and forward to go up and down. Has anyone thought of fitting a car with a stick? (back and forward obviously unnecessary, until we get these flying cars). 8-) There have been prototype cars with joystick control where left/ri...

Re: Flat bottomed steering wheels - why??
So if it's about getting in and out, how do you explain the cars in which the wheel rises electronically when you switch off, which also have flat bottom wheels? What examples can anyone think of in which it is difficult to get in and out because of the position of the wheel? (not including a Cater...

Re: Road Studs
What a load of PC nonsense ! Given that Cats Eyes are a British invention and used worldwide ( the devices are universally referred to as such , so it is a generic term , much like 'Hoover' or 'Biro' ) then I would expect everyone in every civilised English-speaking country to be familiar with the t...

Re: Driving Test Changes
Slightly off topic, but did anyone else hear about the driving test in Birmingham that was halted after police seized the instructor's car for no insurance and mot? Is it the case that the driver is legally responsible for these? I wonder whether the candidate was done, or just the instructor? Is i...

Re: "Jumping" red lights for emergency services
Ambulance and Fire are not exempted to disregard double line systems ( only Police are ) unless other traffic comes to complete stop . Traffic light situation is different , but I'd do as the MGB driver did every time - my ticket would pale into insignificance against the patient in the ambulance li...

Re: Dual carriageway Speed
So if street lights=30, what's the speed limit here then? https://goo.gl/maps/u4dzZVq4fa32 More generally, if you're on an unlit NSL and approaching a lit roundabout, is the roundabout limit 30 if no other signs are present? I've never given it any thought , there are a number of roundabouts in my ...

Re: Dual carriageway Speed
...I was under the impression that a speed limit of 70 usually applies to a dual carriageway unless A sign shows otherwise. Yes but street lights always win...if they are present then the speed limit is 30 (if there are no repeater signs). In Bristol the ring road has a multitude of speed limit cha...

Re: GBOL & DSG Gearbox
Hi, with a sequential gearbox like VAG's DSG or S-tronic the ability to block gear change is removed. The problem here is that having removed your speed prior to a junction (roundabout or otherwise) having just left yourself time to change to the appropriate gear to advance my DSG box can sometimes...
