Re: 20 MPH limits
This story was on Radio 4's Today program this morning and I, and the presenter, were confused what the change being proposed actually was. Chris Boardman didn't explain it very well initially. The 'opposition' in the interview made a very good point (I thought) which was it could lead to an increas...

Re: Hello from West Sussex
Bumblebee I too would urge you to take another test with a different examiner. It does sound like you had an inexperienced car examiner who slipped up on a few things. How about going for a refresher drive with an observer, getting some honest feedback and going for it again? I think you may be plea...

Re: 20 MPH limits
I honestly don't have a problem with these limits. That's quite a blanket statement - all 20 limits, all of the time, everywhere they are implemented? I take your point and will qualify what I typed. The 20 limits where they help protect the most vulnerable road users, then yes I agree. Or, if they...

Re: 20 MPH limits
yes, maybe 20 is appropriate at that time of day - but plenty of other times when 30 or 40 could be absolutely fine... drop the limit and you dumb down - a good driver should adjust anyway, the issue is that we are not training drivers in those basics, or they are not learning! How does it make sen...

Ahh yes...here? https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4580614,-2.5921106,3a,75y,37.37h,77.23t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sWkb5tNL5EK-xu3S8PAMZkg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en I wouldn't describe this as a bonkers example of a 20. This google streetview catches an example of perhaps why and as you know, there are usu...

Re: Mobile phones
...Which for very many is a lot of time, during which most don't crash. True but that's also the case for much bad driving...our road system and other drivers mean people can get away with doing all sorts of things without any dreadful consequences but that doesn't make it right. Every so often how...

Re: 20 MPH limits
Bristol has widespread 20s and Bristol Advanced Motorists were asked to join the consultation panel before implementation. Mr. Toad and I have attended meeting over the last 3 years. I am not in favour of blanket 20s but... There are some common misconceptions about 20s: ⋅ they are unenfor...

Re: Mobile phones
You did draw on your own experience. I therefore drew on mine. OK fair enough - and your response to the simulator studies? The debate is about the extent of the effect and whether it is safely manageable. It is something I would be interested in seeing some research on but I'm not sure it's releva...
